How it works

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic melanocortin-receptor agonist. Rather than acting on the vascular system like PDE5 inhibitors, it works centrally on melanocortin pathways in the brain that are involved in sexual desire and arousal. It is approved in some countries for a specific form of low sexual desire in women.

Protocol overview

Where approved, typical, illustrative, physician-directed use is on-demand by subcutaneous injection ahead of anticipated activity, not daily. Because it is not broadly approved in the UAE, use should only ever be considered under a DHA- or DOH-licensed physician.
