How it works
PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a synthetic melanocortin-receptor agonist. Rather than acting on the vascular system like PDE5 inhibitors, it works centrally on melanocortin pathways in the brain that are involved in sexual desire and arousal. It is approved in some countries for a specific form of low sexual desire in women.
